Tree Preservation Order EL:08/07 T1-Oak Proposed works: Reduce the overall crown by approximately 2 metres, pruning back to suitable growth points and reshaping the canopy to achieve a more balanced and natural form. The Oak has developed an asymmetrical, one-sided crown, largely as a result of its close proximity to the adjacent Sweet Chestnut. Competition between the two trees has influenced the Oak's crown development, with a significant proportion of the canopy extending away from the Sweet Chestnut and towards the neighbouring property. The crown is now extending towards the neighbouring house and is close to making contact with the building. The neighbouring occupier has also raised concerns regarding leaf debris from the tree accumulating within their gutters. The proposed approximately 2-metre crown reduction is intended to reduce the extent of the one-sided canopy, improve the overall balance and form of the tree, and provide appropriate clearance from the neighbouring property. Pruning will be undertaken selectively to suitable growth points to retain a natural crown profile rather than creating a heavily or uniformly cut appearance. T2-Sweet Chestnut Proposed works: Fell to ground level. A climbing inspection has been carried out to assess the condition of the main stem and upper crown. Photographs taken during the inspection are attached to this application to demonstrate the defects described below. A significant longitudinal split/open cavity is present extending up the main stem. At its worst point, the defect extends approximately 400mm into the stem. Decay is present within the cavity, with a substantial amount of decayed woody material and dust being released from the wound during inspection. Further inspection at approximately 30 feet above ground level identified two woodpecker holes, each approximately 50mm wide at the opening. Inspection through these openings indicates that this section of the stem is extensively hollow internally, with approx
