About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

EL:12/03 - G1 10x Ornamental Trees at front boundary of property- Trees have been planted a few years ago now and starting to mature, would like to carry out formative prunes to maintain good growth patterns for the future and remove any crossing or rubbing branches. T1 Robinia at front of property on left side of car park- Tree has a heavy lean and a contorsional split running up the back side of the trunk so could pose a threat to fail in the future. Fell to ground level. T2 Triple stemmed Robinia at front of property on left side of car park- reduce canopy by 2 metres to lessen weight on stems due to poor included unions and minimize chance of failure in the future. T3 Poplar, tree is growing at heavy lean over back fence in back garden- tree has an extensive lean due to growing towards the light and heavily weighted towards the care home, recommended to reduce canopy by 2 metres to minimize strain on the root plate and weight. T4 2x Dead Alders over rear fence- Tree's are completely dead and pose a risk to falling in near the future.

East Molesey Kent Town Conservation Area - T1 - Lime tree on rear boundary - tree has a height of approximately 20 metres and spread of approximately 12 metres. Proposed works are to reduce crown by approximately 2-2.5 metres to previous pruning points, remove regrowth on main trunk to lift crown to a height of approximately 3 metres, leaving the tree with a height of approximately 17.5 metres and spread of approximately 8 metres. These works are being carried out to give clearance from pool house, maintain the tree at a reasonable size suitable to location by carrying out cyclical pruning and allowing light into pool area.

    34 Clive Road Esher Surrey KT10 8PS

Esher Conservation Area - T1 Leyland Cypress (Rear Garden) Fell to ground level. Reason for Works: The tree is situated in very close proximity to the adjacent outbuilding. As the tree has matured, the stem has increased to a diameter at breast height (DBH) of approximately 40 cm and is now in direct contact with the structure, causing abrasion and damage to the building. Due to the ongoing increase in stem diameter, further structural damage is considered likely if the tree is retained. The proposed removal is therefore necessary to prevent additional damage while maintaining the safety and integrity of the adjacent structure. T2 Lawson Cypress (Rear Garden) Remove one large declining lateral limb and carry out a crown clean to remove all deadwood throughout the canopy. Reason for Works: A substantial lateral limb is in decline, exhibiting extensive dieback and a significant reduction in live foliage. The removal of this limb is proposed to reduce the risk of branch failure and improve the tree's overall condition. In addition, deadwood will be removed throughout the crown to eliminate potential hazards, improve canopy health, and form part of routine arboricultural management.
