About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

Tree Preservation Order EL:00/09 - T1 - Robinia - Lateral reduction by up to 2 metres to suitable growth points. - Reason for work: To undertake a lateral crown reduction of up to 2 metres on the Robinia, where it overhangs the client's garden, pruning back to suitable growth points to maintain the tree within its current lateral dimensions and prevent further encroachment over the garden area. The proposed works are intended as cyclical maintenance to manage the extent of the crown over the neighbouring garden whilst retaining the tree's health, structural integrity and amenity value within the woodland setting. All pruning works shall be carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010 ??? Tree Work ??? Recommendations, with a maximum pruning wound diameter of 40mm, pruning back to suitable secondary growth points. Upon completion, the tree will retain a natural, balanced and flowing crown form appropriate to the species and its woodland location.

East Molesey Kent Town Conservation Area - T1 - Lime tree on rear boundary - tree has a height of approximately 20 metres and spread of approximately 12 metres. Proposed works are to reduce crown by approximately 2-2.5 metres to previous pruning points, remove regrowth on main trunk to lift crown to a height of approximately 3 metres, leaving the tree with a height of approximately 17.5 metres and spread of approximately 8 metres. These works are being carried out to give clearance from pool house, maintain the tree at a reasonable size suitable to location by carrying out cyclical pruning and allowing light into pool area.

  • 2026/1784 Granted

    34 Clive Road Esher Surrey KT10 8PS

Esher Conservation Area - T1 Leyland Cypress (Rear Garden) Fell to ground level. Reason for Works: The tree is situated in very close proximity to the adjacent outbuilding. As the tree has matured, the stem has increased to a diameter at breast height (DBH) of approximately 40 cm and is now in direct contact with the structure, causing abrasion and damage to the building. Due to the ongoing increase in stem diameter, further structural damage is considered likely if the tree is retained. The proposed removal is therefore necessary to prevent additional damage while maintaining the safety and integrity of the adjacent structure. T2 Lawson Cypress (Rear Garden) Remove one large declining lateral limb and carry out a crown clean to remove all deadwood throughout the canopy. Reason for Works: A substantial lateral limb is in decline, exhibiting extensive dieback and a significant reduction in live foliage. The removal of this limb is proposed to reduce the risk of branch failure and improve the tree's overall condition. In addition, deadwood will be removed throughout the crown to eliminate potential hazards, improve canopy health, and form part of routine arboricultural management.
