What a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About full applications applications
How this application type works
A full application seeks permission for a complete, detailed proposal in one go: siting, design, access and landscaping are all fixed at this stage. It is the standard route for new buildings, conversions and changes of use. The statutory target is eight weeks for smaller schemes and thirteen weeks for major development, though complex cases often take longer by agreement.

Plot One Ashley Park Road Walton-On-Thames Surrey KT12 1JU
WAL:12/72 - Tree species: Conifer - Crown reduction because of excessive shading to garden at 1 Ashley Park Road and proximity to house at 1 Ashley Park Road. Height reduction by 6m and width reduction by 3.5m so tree height from approx 18m to 12m and width from approx 9.5m to 6m, particularly at the bottom close to the side of 1 Ashley Park Road. Remove lower branches close to side roof and boiler flue / extractor fan vents and air conditioning unit vents on 1 Ashley Park Roaad. Reasons for works: This tree takes up a significant amount of light from the background all year round because of it's height and width and proximity to 1 Ashley Park Road as well as its branches covering much of the side of the house at 1 Ashley Park Road, including the boiler flues, extractor fan vent and air conditioning units. Despite not requesting the tree to be felled, we have planted several wildlife hedges and trees in the garden already.

2024/2131 Granted
15 Stompond Lane Walton-On-Thames Surrey KT12 1HE
WAL:12/72 - The tree is a Silver Birch tree located in the front of the property shown as T2 on the plan. Pre application advice obtained from a council tree officer indicated that the tree was in a healthy physiological and structural condition. The twin stemmed tree has a relatively broad crown and a limited amount of crown reduction is requested to lessen the loading on the crown. Specifically agreement is sought to crown thin by up to 10% and crown lift to provide 3m clearance by removing secondary and tertiary growth only. The reasons for requesting this work are to provide greater clearance underneath the crown and reduce the amount of resistance on the crown and structure during high winds.
