What refusal means
The process from here
The council refused this application for the reasons set out on the decision notice, which the council portal holds in full. Only the applicant can appeal a refusal; the time limit runs from the decision date and is shorter for householder schemes.
Refusal does not prevent a fresh attempt. Applicants often address the reasons for refusal and resubmit, so a refused scheme is not necessarily the end of proposals for the site.
About advertising applications
How this application type works
Advertisement consent controls signs, hoardings and other adverts. The council may only judge two things: amenity, meaning the effect on the appearance of the building and area, and public safety, chiefly whether a sign distracts road users or obstructs sight lines. Other planning considerations, such as competition between businesses, do not apply.

The sign is 9.6m in length, 750mm high and will be hand painted dark green with cream coloured text and a thin offset line to the perimeter. The text will read "Welcome to the Tuck Shop Walberswick" The sign is a flat panel boarded sign that is mounted to the eaves of the existing mono-pitched roof, but will only sit 75mm proud of the existing roof. It is set back behind the existing flat roof and recently permitted roof extension. The sign will mask the existing brickwork and eaves detail and provide the shop with a more traditional appearance.
