Listed Building consent for comprehensive consolidation and conservation repair of the cone brickwork (inside and out); an agreed cyclical programme of maintenance to the cone masonry; the replacement of timber windows with new cast iron windows; minor alterations to the internal layout of the cone museum exhibits; repairs and improvements to the adjoining outbuildings; alterations to the below-ground drainage system; the permanent removal of a facsimile brick furnace structure and bridge link constructed in 1984 and the reinstatement of the brick paving with a new glass-covered floor over the original furnace tunnels; the replacement of the current facsimile narrow boat exhibit and metal railings with a new display and the reinstatement of the brick paved floor finish to the original level; the installation of a new glazed screen to the first floor Stuart Gallery; the installation of a new platform lift inside the main museum entrance lobby to access the first floor Stuart Gallery; and the replacement of the exciting internal floodlighting with a new comprehensive illumination/lighting scheme
