What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

Custom House, Access Road To Sea Front From The C2042 At Port Carlisle, Port Carlisle, CA7 5BU

Tree 1 is an old mature pine tree and in recent gales large branches have fallen off, narrowly missing our parked car. For health and safety reasons the tree should be felled. If that is not possible then pollarded to reduce its size and risk of falling branches. Tree 2 is an overgrown sour cherry. The branches are now overhanging the garage and almost reaching the house. The roots are lifting the flagstones of the side path and probably under the foundations of the garage and house which will cause problems in the future. To avoid future problems it should be felled If that is not possible then pollarded to reduce its size and stop root encroachment. Both trees are within 4M of the house and would cause major damage if they were blown over in a storm in this very windy location. The land/trees are owned by next door in Fishers cross and they are more than happy to have the work done. With their permission I am happy to provide and plant replacement trees away from the house in the adjoining plot of land.
