Awaiting decision Croydon Works to Trees in a Conservation Area

Proposal

Tree 447 - Robinia: Reduce the crown by 2.5 m to suitable secondary growth points to reduce end weight and manage the suppressed lean over the public highway, while retaining the tree's natural form. Tree 448 - Holm Oak Group: Crown lift to provide a minimum clearance of 3 m above the footpath and 6 m above Tree View Road by removing or shortening selected lower lateral branches Tree 451 - Robinia: Carefully fell the tree to as close to ground level as practicable due to significant basal decay and poor internal condition. Treat the resulting stump(s) with approved eco plugs to prevent regrowth. Tree 453 - Mixed Species Group (Holly, Holm Oak and Turkey Oak): Crown lift to provide a minimum clearance of 3 m above the footpath by removing or shortening selected lower branches, whilst retaining the natural form of the group. Tree 454 - Sycamore Group: Reduce the crown by 3m to suitable secondary growth points, remove all hanging and failed branches, remove deadwood measuring 25 mm diameter and greater, crown lift to provide 3 m clearance above the footpath and 6 m above Tree View Road, and remove basal and epicormic growth.

What happens while it is decided

The process from here

This application is with Croydon for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
