Planning application

26/01878/TPO

30 Beeches Road Cirencester Gloucestershire GL7 1BW

Awaiting decision Cotswold Works to trees with a TPO

Proposal

1. The tree marked TPO Tree (Copper Beech TPO158) is very tall and full. Propose to reduce its crown by 40% to reduce the excessive shading experienced by residents at Purley Court. 2. The tree marked TPO Tree (Mature Ash TOP 158/14). Pollard this tree to the point where it had been pollarded in the past (i.e. reduce its size by approximately 60%). Again due to the excessive shading and threat posed. In the case of failure it would cause significant damage to Purley Court residences). All final works would be under advice of a tree expert.

What happens while it is decided

The process from here

This application is with Cotswold for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
