Granted Cotswold 20/00411/TPO Works to trees with a TPO

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T1 - Lime - make new pollard at approx. 11m from ground level. This is due to poor unions at approx. 4m and 11m. G1 - Lime and Sweet Chestnut group - reduce crowns back to previous pruning points from 2014 pruning. This is due to a light issue to houses in close proximity to the group

Lime tree in the South East corner of the garden to 36 Oaklands, bordering Somerford Road. Reduce the height of the tree by approx 6m resulting in a final height of 28m Reduce overlong lateral limbs on the South West side of the tree by approx 4m and all remaining lateral limbs by approx 2m resulting in a final lateral spread of approx 9m. Through removal of all deadwood over 20mm. Dead wood is evident in the upper crown area and several limbs have fallen from the tree in recent years, i believe the above work would reduce risk to passing pedestrians and vehicles

T1 - Sycamore tree to be crown reduced and balanced. This tree is absolutely massive in comparison to the very small garden behind this property, and the garden has nothing growing in it at all as this tree now completely covers the whole garden. The branches are very nearly touching the house, there is significant dead wood in the centre of the crown and the tree is very misshapen. There was a large Ash tree growing next to it at number 28 that was removed due to Ash Dieback some years ago. This removal has left the Sycamore tree very two dimensional with most of the canopy over the garden of number 27. There is a very large lateral scaffold limb protruding from approximately one meter from the ground out of the side of the main trunk, that probably has nearly half of the canopy growing from it. Currently the tree has a height of approx. 12-14 meters, with a spread of approx. 7-8 meters north and east, approx. 6-7 meters south and approx. 2-3 meters west. Proposal is to reduce the height by approx. 4-5 meters, the spread by approx. 2-3 meters north and east, approx. 2-3 meters south and approx. 0.5 meters west to blend and balance the canopy. Also to remove the dead stem top in the centre.
