What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within five years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About heritage and listed buildings applications

How this application type works

Heritage applications concern listed buildings and conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for works, inside or out, that affect the special interest of a listed building, and carrying out such works without consent is a criminal offence. The council weighs harm to the heritage asset against any public benefit of the proposal.

    Pont Pengwern Llansannan Conwy

The works at Pont Pengwern are required to address the continued deterioration of the bridge. CCBC requires the strengthening and repair of Pont Pengwern to maintain its structural integrity and to ensure the important road link is maintained. The proposed works constitute repairs and strengthening of the bridge structure together with the installation of scour protection measures within the river channel beneath. The proposed repair methods considered consist of: 1.Vacuum grouting internal structure 2. Installation of Pattress plates 3. Installation of concrete slab and waterproofing layer 4. Take down and rebuild bulging areas of structure 5. Take down and rebuild parapet walls The proposed works have the potential to affect the character of Pont Pengwern and, as a building of special architectural or historic interest, it therefore requires listed building consent under the terms of the Planning (Listed Building and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 and Historic Environment (Wales) Act 2016
