About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

Carriage House Carriage Drive Frodsham Cheshire WA6 6EB
Requesting permission to perform general maintenance to trees at Carriage House primarily due to safety concerns after a branch falling from one of the larger trees and before we experience any high winds as the weather changes. Two of the trees overhang a drive to the house and a shared access road were my kids play and neighbours access there properties, I am looking to have the works to done as soon as possible as I am worried about safety if we have any high winds. The person that has visually inspected the trees has said they are nice trees but would benefit from maintenance work to protect their health and ensure they are safe. Tree 1 - Pine / Spruce tree - approx 70 feet tall. A large branch fell from this tree, I have had it visually inspected and the person identified another branch that is damaged and ready to fall. Requesting permission to prune the tree to take "the weight" from the top and make safe. Tree 2 - Pine / Spruce tree approx - 70 feet tall. Similar condition to Tree 1, I have had it visually inspected and the person suggested as it is a similar age, height and condition this also needs to be made safe. Requesting permission to prune the tree to take "the weight" from the top and make safe. Tree 3 - Oak Tree - approx 50 feet tall. From viewing plans, I do not think this falls within a tree preservation order. I have had the tree visually inspected and have been advised due to the size and volume of the tree it would benefit from attention to keep it healthy. Requesting permission to prune the tree to remove some volume from the larger branches to protect the tree from high wind, maintain its health / appearance and ensure it is safe.

After consultation with a qualified arborist (Alex Davies from AJD Tree Care, Sandbach) regarding several trees on our property, he recommended the following actions (please refer to sketch map for the location of the affected trees T1, T2, T3 and T4) T1 Copper Beech TPO V/81/00175/ORD Tree No 9 Crown Lift to raise the lower small branches which overhang the pavement and are currently at head height in places T2 and T3 Sycamore Conservation Area owned by Church Crown Lift to remove the lower branches which overhang the garden of 2 Hadrian Way and are currently at head height in places T4 Sycamore Conservation Area joint owned by Church and 2 Hadrian Way Crown Lift to remove lower branches which overhang the garden of 2 Hadrian Way and are currently scraping the garage roof. The wind causes the branch to bang the roof which we believe will increase the likelihood of structural damage in bad weather. We have only been in this property for about 6 months but we recall that the previous owners suffered damage to the garage roof from a falling branch some years ago - presumably the same tree. We have spoken to the Church Warden (Ali Fletcher) about the proposed work, and on behalf of the church, she is happy for the work to proceed from her perspective.
