Planning application

Cragside House, 109 Main Street, Newtown Linford, Leicestershire, LE6 0AF

Decided Charnwood P/24/2347/2 Tree works Conservation Area

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

T1 - Blue Atlas Cedar Work - Remove Reason - The species will grow too large for location and damage the wall. It also overhangs the neighbours parking area and the resin causes issue for their cars. Pruning would abate the resin issue but not the diameter increase at ground level which will result in damage to the wall. The species sheds branches thru storm damage and is not suitable for areas of high use and over parked cars. Removal and replanting with a more suitable species for the location will reduce pruning requirement and create a more sustainable long term solution for this important location on view as people enter the village. Replanting - Ginkgo biloba

T1 Oak Works - Veteranise pruning to lower vigourous growth. Reason - Extensive decay in main stem will lead to failure of main stem which will shorten lifespan of the tree as failure will remove important regeneration. Having given planning permission to build so close to the tree the risk of failure has to now be reduced. Management of the tree in line with a veteran tree with a lower canopy and more vigourous growth will enable safe retention for potentially hundreds of years.
