What a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within five years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

Removal of 2 trees. 1 x Beech (we think its a common Beech) 1 x Purging Buckthorn (we think it's this species). The Beech is hard against an old historic wall in Llandaff Village. Currently the tree height is low and the trunk is small. But we believe Beech can grow up to 40 meters and have a trunk diameter of up to 1.5 meters. This tree when fully grown would almost certainly damage the historic wall and possible a drain/manhole/sewerage pipes which are within 2 meters. Additionally, the tree would be far too large for the small cottage garden that exists. Our proposal would be to remove this tree and plant another away from the wall and of a size that is proportionate to the small cottage garden. The other tree is also hard against the same wall and an outbuilding which is causing damage. Its current position means it can't be easily seen. Its also overgrown with Ivy, dead in parts and possibly dying as a tree. We are proposing to remove this tree and plant another in a location where it can be seen, where there is better light and where it can't damage property.
