Planning application

87 Chestfield Road Chestfield Whitstable Kent CT5 3JH

Granted Canterbury CA/23/00152 Conservation Area Notice

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T1-T4 Fell 4 Lombardy Poplar trees in the rear garden. T1 - T4 - To sectionally fell to ground level 4 Lombardy Poplar trees in rear garden. When operatives working on them last year, we discovered the trees were becoming unstable at the base due to heartwood decay and other attack by beetle and fungi. After carrying out a sounding test with rubber mallet to hear the extent of rot it was clear the trees were hollow or had extreme heartwood decay. The trees are still of a height that could cause damage to neighbouring properties should they fail. The client will plant 4 fruit trees in replacement.
