Planning application

Spring Close Western Lane Winslow Buckinghamshire MK18 3AU

Granted Buckinghamshire PL/25/3409/TP Works to trees covered by TPO

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

The proposed work is to prune over-extended lateral branches of one tree that pose a risk by overhanging a public footpath and adjacent gardens. A second tree has more extensive decay and it is proposed that its crown be removed to leave the standing stem. Details are given in the attached arborist's report by Patrick Stileman Ltd. Tree 2 - Ash. Shorten the lower member of a subsiding branch on the NW side by 2-3m back to live growth points. Remove the upper member back to the fork, approximately 1.5m from the main stem. (See report page 6) Remove dead wood with a diameter in excess of 20mm on the north side of the tree in falling distance of the footpath. Tree 3 - Ash. Remove the crown to leave the standing stem at a height of 7m, severing the secondary stem on the west side at approximately the same height. (See report page 10). As the tree is among other trees in a mature hedgerow and the tree will not be completely removed, it is not considered necessary to replant.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
