Works: Trees
Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.
Proposal
1x Oak T1 on site plan located on the northern boundary of 7 Jarvis Cleys adjacent to Appleby Street. Proposed works - Crown cleaning - to remove all dead/dying/broken branches and all adventitious shoots - and to continue this way of pruning on an annual basis. This will preserve the health of the tree improve its appearance and open up the interior of the crown for air flow. Canopy reduction - to reduce the overall size of the tree by 10-15% in order to encourage a full more rounded shape of tree. The tree is in need of re-shaping to a more traditional character similar to other oak trees nearby. Raising the tree canopy - to reduce the lower branch extending out towards Appleby Street and to balance reduce the large branch over our driveway on the opposite side. Remove inward growing branches/branches crossing each other - this will prevent wounds on the branches and minimise entry points for disease.

T1 Weeping silver birch in the front garden -The trunk is approximately 2.5 metres from the front of the house and 2.5 metres from the front boundary. Proposed works: Selectively shorten branches on the house-facing side of the crown by up to 1 metre, pruning back to suitable lateral growth points, to increase clearance from the dwelling. Selectively shorten upper shoots growing towards the overhead telephone wires by up to 1 metre. No general crown-height reduction is proposed beyond this selective pruning. Lightly thin the remaining crown by up to 10%, concentrating on small, congested secondary branches and selectively removing crossing or rubbing branches. Retain an even distribution of foliage and the tree characteristic rounded, weeping form. Remove dead and damaged branches where present. No topping, pollarding or removal of major structural limbs is proposed. All pruning to follow BS 3998:2010 recommendations. Willow adjacent to the New River (W2 approximately 6m from High Road Broxbourne) - shape the semi-mature tree to establish a good form for the future. Willow tree at W3 north west corner of site - remove the southern most branch which is causing an imbalance and threatens stability. Shape the remainder of the tree.
