What a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

Indian bean tree / catalpa - I am applying to remove the tree and replace with a tree better suited to the location. The tree has been badly managed in the past by previous home owners. It has many wounds on the stem as shown in the attached photos. The main stem has included bark which is a hazard as the tree is right next to the property and neighbouring propeties. The owner is worred the roots will start to damage the foundations of the nearby buildings and cause costly repercussions. The roots are compressed by tiles, laid by the previous owner, which I believe has added to the decline of the tree. The owner would like to remove it before is becomes any more of a hazard and replace it with a smaller species, better suited to the space.

T1 Sycamore- remove 3 epicormic stems at the base of the tree (approx diameter 10 cms each) Reduce central top height of the tree by 2 meters and reshape the crown all around. Reasons- the tree has not been worked on for some time and it is cutting out light at the back of the property and for other properties in the vicinity. It is a very tall tree for the confined space that it is in.
