Planning application
T/00576/25/TCA
Preston House, Coach House Flat Farleigh Road Preston Candover Hampshire RG25 2DS
Proposal
The tree is a semi mature beech approximately 13 metres from a house and 15 metres from a public road. The tree has recently shed a limb which hit the house causing a small amount of damage to the roof. It is approximately 30m tall, is leaning slightly towards the house and is ivy covered. There is no suggestion that the root plate is lifting rather that it has grown away from other trees towards light hence the slight lean. It is proposed to remove the tree to ground level reducing the risk to property. There are many trees in this area of what makes up part of the formal garden for Preston House and the removal of this tree will not negatively impact the conservation area.

What a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

Preston Farms Farleigh Road Preston Candover Hampshire RG25 2DS
There are 6 semi mature Beech trees growing between the buildings know as Lower Farm Buildings and the main farm drive. The trees in question are around 20m tall and their branches are now touching, or close to touching the rooves of the buildings. There is also an electric cable running below the crowns on the building side of the main stems. It is proposed to prune / crown lift the trees to give a 2.5m clearance from the buildings and cable. Care will be taken to ensure that balance will be retained.
