Proposal
1 x Oak - Standing in T36 of Tree Preservation Order. Works to be carried out are a like-for-like replacement of existing distribution mains in Hampstead Way and Hampstead Heath DMA. Works consist of replacement of approximately 0.77km of an existing cast iron/ spun iron/ steel mains with a 180mm, 150mm and 125mm polyethylene (PE) pipeline which runs within and adjacent to Hampstead Heath Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC). The mains to be replaced are entirely below-ground and the default construction method will be open-cut with excavations at 900mm depth and 480mm width to safely access and replace the pipe. There may be potential for the works to be carried out using trenchless techniques (slip-lining and/or directional drilling methodology). Thames Water has identified these assets as being at high risk of failure due to recurring bursts along the route.

About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
