What a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About full applications applications
How this application type works
A full application seeks permission for a complete, detailed proposal in one go: siting, design, access and landscaping are all fixed at this stage. It is the standard route for new buildings, conversions and changes of use. The statutory target is eight weeks for smaller schemes and thirteen weeks for major development, though complex cases often take longer by agreement.

Stubbs Restaurant and Hotel, 379 Canterbury Road, Kennington, Ashford, Kent, TN25 4DU
Description: Two large oak trees, prune to remove dead and weak branches along with a general reduction in the size of the crowns is proposed. The pruning will be specified as 30% with reductions in height and branch length. The proposed height after reduction will be 20 metres. The proposed branch length after reduction of the larger forked trees will be NESW 6 metres. The proposed branch length after reduction of the single stemmed tree will be NESW 5 metres. The reasons for the works are twofold: The major development at the adjacent building will lead to a significant increase in the usage of the site & the new patio, particularly under the two oak trees. The fork in the larger of the two trees shows a degree of 'elephant's ears' in that it is putting on wood either side of the fork, suggesting the tree is attempting to strength the join at the fork due to slightly more than normal movement. The proposed pruning is therefore a precautionary measure, bearing in mind that the trees are unlikely to get any further attention for a few more years.
