A mature/veteran Oak which has been heavily reduced in the past. Tree exhibits old pruning wounds which have decayed back into major lateral limbs. Although the tree is breaking out into leaf it is noticeable slower than other specimens of Oak in the near vicinity. This could be due to the trees mature age or could be starting with some kind of systemic failure. I would recommend a Full Crown Reduction - Reducing the height and spread of the tree by up to 2 metres in accordance with pruning operations in BS 3998. This will reduce the weight and sail effect, caused by heavy winds, on the large limbs. Works recommended will prune the tree into a reduced symmetrical form retaining amenity value to the local area.
