REAR: ONE Hawthorn (T1)(approx.ht.6m) FELL. Reason: completely ivy covered, many dead branches, fungal decay, close to rear of properties, overhanging two rear gardens. Not safe. Health and safety concerns. Informative: Duty to replace - the owner has a duty to plant another tree of an appropriate size and species in a suitable place nearby as soon as he or she reasonably can, if a tree in a conservation area is removed because it is dead or presents an immediate risk of serious harm under 5 Day Notice. (Para 121 of Tree Preservation Orders and trees in conservation areas guidance). It is noted with thanks that replacement broadleaved tree(s) are planned and will be maintained. This is hugely appreciated in times of Climate Emergency declared by Lewisham Council in March 2019 and to support the urban forest canopy. A replacement hawthorn further down the garden away from property would be beneficial for wildlife. Informative: Where a tree is on the boundary and is the joint responsibility of the applicant and the neighbour, or where consent is sought for trees on adjacent properties, any necessary agreements or permissions from the owner(s) need to be obtained before carrying out any tree work that may be permitted by the LPA. The cut off parts of the tree remain the owner's property and should be offered back.
