Lydford House Barcombe Heights Paignton TQ3 1PU
T0068- Turkey Oak- the tree has not been managed in previous years and very minimal pruning has been carried out this leaving the tree with a very large canopy circumference in a small area causing an issue for the residents and the elderly visitors of this property. The tree dominates the garden and driveway and dosent leave much room free. I am applying to Crown reduce by 2 meters over the house laterally and reduce the opposing side by up to 3 meters reducing the tree in height by 1.5m , these works are minimal and will have very little detrimental affects on the trees health and will also have minimal impacts on the trees value within the overall landscape. These works are crucial for the property owner and carrying out these works will provide the home owner and his with a tremendous gain and will allow them to use their garden and driveway much more proactively. please see my survey for further evidence and reasons.

3x mature beech trees behind and to the north east of the creative therapies studio. ///digesting.kite.skim. T1. 1x beech tree directly behind studio - Reduce in height by approximately 3-4m to appropriate pruning points. Post pruning height will be approximately 14-16m. Reduce eastern canopy edge to taper in with remaining canopy spread. This will be done by removing 2.5m from the tips of the branches. ///hides.depth.soap. T2. 1x beech tree north east of the studio - Reduce in height by approximately 3-4m to appropriate pruning points. Post pruning height will be approximately 16-18m. Reduce eastern canopy spread by 2m by removing overextending lateral branches back to suitable pruning points. T3. 1x beech tree north west of T2 - Reduce in height by 2.5m to appropriate pruning points. Post pruning height will be 14m above ground level. The finishing height of the tree will fit in with the already narrow canopy spread of the tree. The reductions to the beech are being undertaken as part of the ongoing management f the tree crowns. While the risk is tolerable, we are looking to manage the trees, which have been previously reduced, in line with best practice as recommended in BS3998. The previous reduction have led to cavities at the reduction points and the resulting regrowth has established at point were the structure of the tree has been compromised. The proposed reductions will keep in line with what has been approved and will also reduce the likelihood of primary branch failure in the short to medium-term. This reduction will reduce the likelihood of large wounds being formed post failure and mange the trees in consideration of the built up urban environment within which they are situated. The reduction will not reduce the trees aesthetic value in the short-term but will promote healthy growth and a good structure through on going cyclical management.

1 Large Oak tree . Total removal of tree and replace with shrub 2 dying sycamore . total removal and replacement with shrub 3 Large sycamore - total removal and replacement with shrub All trees stand on a small area of bank 3-4 m above ground level. The trees severely overshadow the house ( Sketch C) . Leaves, falling branches and sap cause damage to vehicles parked at the property and the trees are located only 6 metres distance from the front of the property itself. The large sycamore ( tree 3) is also damaging the boundary wall. All trees are overhanging Museum Road and car park entrance. Sketch C is taken from a photo and demonstrates the height of the trees compared to the top of the property roof. Options other than total removal would still leave the property in a vulnerable position and at risk with stormy weather and bank erosion. The proposal would replace the large trees with shrubs which could be maintained at lower height, provide some privacy and also provide support to the environment

Torbay Hospital Newton Road Torquay TQ2 7AA
ATI001 - Populus serotina (Hybrid Black Poplar) - Fell to ground level. This tree has been highlighted in a recent survey in a Tree Safety Inspection Report commissioned by Torbay Hospital and was conducted in November 2022. The tree was inspected from ground level and an aerial inspection to assess defects in the main stem. As a result of the inspection the tree was highlighted to be removed on safety grounds. It is an over mature poplar, rooted on the edge of Lowes Bridge footpath (on the edge of a water course). It has a heavy lean towards the railway line, and if were to fail would certainly land on the tracks. Early 2022, a secondary limb failure occurred with the large section falling onto the footpath below. There is an extensive cavity at approximately 9m on the main stem which extends at least 1m, downwards. There's evidence that the rootplate has heaved slightly, with disturbed, loose soil on the tension side of the tree. It has now grown beyond the existing canopy line of the surrounding trees, which is now introducing an increased wind load (prevailing westerly). It was originally highlighted in previous surveys to be removed, but I believe the applications were declined. The hospital are more than happy to re-plant.
