Tree species: Common Oak (Quercus robur) Description of proposed works: Fell to ground level, in accordance with BS 3998:2010, and establish an exclusion zone for the duration of works. Reasons for the work: The tree is an over-mature Common Oak in advanced, irreversible decline, with approximately 50% of the crown dead or absent, major deadwood, apical dieback, and fungal decay at both the roots and stem with associated buttress-root damage. A QTRA V5.4 (GB) assessment returns a Risk of Harm of approximately 1/500 ? Unacceptable ? governed by a basal/whole-tree (uprooting) failure mode. The extent of root and butt decay, combined with a low residual safety factor, means crown reduction or other retention works are not arboriculturally viable; felling is the only proportionate option. Full justification is set out in the accompanying assessment. Replanting proposals: One replacement tree to be planted within the rear garden ? a semi-mature feathered Quercus robur (standard, 10?12 cm girth), positioned clear of structures and underground services, planted in the next available bare-root season (November?March) and maintained in accordance with BS 8545:2014. We are reluctant to recommend a weight reduction or canopy thin to reduce windsail at the risk it will alter wind entry angles and put unions under more stress. TPO 318W.

There are two trees of concern. 1 A large magnolia in our front garden which requires pruning as the outer branches are growing into overhead wires, crown reduce by up to 3m 2 A very large Beech tree at the back of the garden which also needs pruning. My partner, who has lived here since the 1970?s remembers it last being pruned about 40 years ago. It is casting the back garden in permanent shade. The Beech tree shares the border of 3 properties (number 1, 7 and 9 Park Gates Drive, SK8 7DD). Matthew Thompson (Arborist) has visited the garden and advised that the trees should be crown reduced by up to 3m, crown lifted and thinned by 10%. HAR/CA29.

Cedar planted in 1981 has become a problem. The front of the house was extended 1995 and the roof receives a heavy fallout of pine needles resulting in a build up of moss and vegetation. The pine needles also block the drains. The edge of the driveway is lifting. A mature Larch tree fell on the the house 2002 and is also a concer. TPO 383W.

We are requesting consent to remove the Lawson Cypress tree located approximately 1 metre from the front entrance of our property, which is in the Swann Lane/Hulme Hall Road/Hill Top Avenue Conservation Area. HAR/CA26. The tree is in an unsuitable location, being in close proximity to the water meter and foul water drain. We have already experienced drain blockages caused by root ingress, and United Utilities have recently attended to clear roots from the system (image attached). Lawson Cypress is a fast-growing species and if left to mature, we believe it would present an ongoing risk of damage to both our services and our (and our neighbour's) property.
