Application to carry out Tree Surgery Works to No. 4 Trees and Fell No. 1 Tree as shown within the South Somerset District Council (MIPO 5) 2001 Tree Preservation Order. Tree 1 (Pine)on Figure 1 has one long branch going eastwards through Tree 2 (Pine) which would be removed as there is no suitable growth points. Tree 2 has a lot of dieback and looks in quite a poor state. It is smaller than the other trees but is growing towards the houses. Once the encroaching branch from tree 1 is removed I would reduce any dieback back to healthy growth and remove any dead wood. I would then re-evaluate the condition of the tree to see if it is worth keeping. So i would like to apply for possible removal of tree 2 but only if it is not worth saving. The tree is quite small compared to the others and wouldn't effect the copse with removal. T3 and T4 (Pines) I would only recommend a light reduction of a 1 - 2 metres on selected branches heavily leaning eastwards with the aim of encouraging the overall gravitational pull of the trees away from the houses but leaving a well balanced canopy. There is a small dead stem between trees 1 and 2 which would be removed too as could fall towards fence on east side.
